2024 - 2025
1.1
In English, we will be reading This is Me, The Same but Different Too and The Colour Monster. We will be focusing on what makes us special, differences and emotions.
In Maths, we will be exploring numerical patterns and prepositions. We will focus on opportunities to promote learning and introduce key vocabulary with the support of symbols.
Our topic is All About Me. We will be exploring a variety of activities to develop our language and emotions.
What are Terrapins up to?
1.2
In English, we will be exploring the stories The Very Hungry Caterpillar's Birthday Party and Dear Santa. We will also be learning a variety of different Nursery Rhymes.
In Maths, we will be singing number rhymes and focusing on counting to 5. We will be developing our counting skills by using a variety of resources and visuals.
Our topic is Let's Celebrate. We will be learning about Bonfire Night, Remembrance Day, Birthdays, Christmas and celebrating Nursery Rhyme Week.
2.1
In English, we will be reading the stories Whatever Next!, How to Catch a Star and We're Off to Look for Aliens. Also, we will be learning the concepts soft and hard.
In Maths, we will be matching Numicon shapes to the correct number, singing Five Little Men in a Flying Saucer and focusing on counting to five and learning about 2D shapes.
Our topic is Let's Explore. We will be exploring a variety of sensory activities to support our learning.
2.2
In English, we will be reading the stories The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Dear Zoo and What the Ladybird Heard. Also, we will be learning the concepts small and Large.
In Maths, we will be focusing on identifying numbers and counting objects. Also, we will be practising our number formation.
Our topic is Amazing Animals. We will be learning all about animals including minibeasts, zoo and farm animals. We will be exploring a variety of sensory activities to support our learning.

In English, will be reading the stories The Three Little Pigs and The Gingerbread Man. Also, we will be learning the concepts short and tall.
In Maths, we will be focusing on recognising and writing numbers and understanding the value of numbers. Also, we will be comparing the size of different objects and putting items in order from shortest to tallest.
Our topic is ‘Traditional Tales’. We will be engaging in a variety of sensory activities to explore the traditional tales such as The Three Little Pigs and The Gingerbread Man.

What are Terrapins up to?
3.1
In English this half term we will reading The Three Little Pigs, Goldilocks and the Three Bears and Jack and the Beanstalk. We will be focusing on key words from the stories and developing our play around our favourite stories.
In Maths, we will be focusing on number rhymes and counting to five. We will be beginning to compare sizes and weights and exploring the language big, little, light and heavy.
Our Science topic is spring. We will be developing our seasonal understanding and changes to the natural world.
This half term our topic is ‘Traditional Tales’. We will be exploring the tales through sensory play.
2.2
In Terrapins, we will be using stories to provide a foundation for our learning. Children will be exploring stories such as Dear Zoo and Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? We will be using sensory approaches to integrate this into the curriculum.
In Maths, we will be focusing on numbers 1-5, colours, 2D shapes, patterns and prepositions. Each day of the week will have a different Maths focus.
In Science, we will be exploring a range of fun and exciting science experiments.
Our topic will be cross-curricular with English. We will be using stories and songs to learn about different animals.

We have enjoyed our threading activities to develop our hand—eye coordination.
We have enjoyed exploring all our different senses during sensory play.
For World Mental Health Day, we created some beautiful yellow hearts.
