Pupil Premium

The Government believes that the Pupil Premium, which is additional to main school funding, is the best way to address the current underlying inequalities between children eligible for free school meals (FSM) and their wealthier peers by ensuring that funding to tackle disadvantage reaches the pupils who need it most.

In most cases the Pupil Premium is allocated to schools and is clearly identifiable. It is for schools to decide how the Pupil Premium, allocated to schools per FSM pupil, is spent, since they are best placed to assess what additional provision should be made for the individual pupils within their responsibility.

Pupil Premium

In 2013/2014 we plan to allocate the pupil premium as follows:

  • An additional teacher in Year 6.
  • 3 access groups lead by 2 teaching assistants and 2 HLTAs. These cover KS1 and KS2.
  • An additional intervention TA in Reception class.
  • Interventions for Numeracy and Literacy, including: Direct Reading Instruction, Project X-Code, First Class at Number 1 and 2, Success at Arithmetic, DigiSmart, Acceleread, Accelewrite and Secret of Words.
  • Intervention groups to support language, memory and social skills: Social use of Language Programme, Barrier Games, Working Memory and Language groups.
  • Enhanced curriculum – sports and forest school development.
  • Music provision and instruction.
  • Subsidised educational visits.
  • Speech and Language Therapist (1 day per week).
  • Child Psychotherapist (1 day per week).
  • Uniform available on site.
  • Training to improve the quality of teaching.
  • Out of hours learning (see extra-curricular activities timetable).
