Our School
Allens Croft Primary is a friendly, vibrant and exciting school in the heart of Kings Heath, Birmingham. We currently have approximately 420 children on roll. We are a popular two-form entry primary school and a 36 place Resource Base.
Our children have access to brilliant teaching and a wealth of fantastic experiences from the moment they start in Reception to when they leave us in Year 6, ready to start the next chapter of their education. It is my belief that as educators, we have the best role in the world. We have a responsibility to ensure that the children in our care are not only safe, happy and learning at school, but are equipped to leave here and face the challenges of the modern world outside of the school gates. I want our children to be proud of where they come from, to be able to voice their opinions, while listening and accepting that others may be different, to be respectful, courteous and curious.
We place our creative arts and pastoral offer at the heart of our curriculum and the children have a range of opportunities and resources to support their learning whilst celebrating their successes throughout all curriculum subjects. One of our investments is in the Hippodrome Education Network (HEN) which allows us to provide our children exposure to professional workshops, as well as live action shows at the theatre. As a result, our Performing Arts offer is going from strength to strength and children’s talents are showcased in a variety of performances throughout the year. We have continued to receive and sustain the Platinum Arts Mark Award over the years.
We make sure that our children are nurtured to reach their full academic potential with additional support for those who need it by offering an ambitious and challenging curriculum for all to stretch our children’s thinking whilst having high aspirations. Alongside the mainstream classes, we also have a Resource Base which consists of three classes. We have a Resource Base Provision, with twelve places specifically for children with autism and a further twenty-four places for children whose primary area of need is cognition and learning.
Alongside all of this, there are state-of-the-art facilities available across the site, including two large halls, a moveable stage and lightening and sound system, a computer suite, sensory circuits, a forest area, including a pizza oven and trim trails, sensory gardens, a MUGA (multi-use games area), which are regularly used by all for lessons, enrichment sessions and extra-curricular activities.
We have very high expectations at Allens Croft and it is my aim to ensure that we continue to build on the connections and partnership with our parents and carers to ensure the very best possible outcomes for every child, academically, personally, emotionally and socially.
