Turtles Outdoor Learning and Sensory Garden
The children have been busy constructing mini bug hotels to encourage lots of different bugs into our outdoor aera.
In outdoor learning the children explored the outdoor area and collected twigs, stones and leaves and created their own natural portraits.
The children have enjoyed lots of fun experiences during outdoor learning this half term. They love to explore the environment, looking for bugs and making windcatchers from natural materials.
Terrapins and Turtles have been visiting our allotment plot weekly. The children have been weeding and preparing the ground. We have also planted a blueberry and blackberry plant.
In outdoor learning this week the children have been planting a variety of herbs and flowers for a School Wheelbarrow competition at Gardeners World.
In outdoor learning this week for Number Day the children went outside to collect some natural materials. When they got back into the classroom the children created shapes with the leaves and matched numbers to the amount of stones. Also, the children found some ice so we estimated how long the ice would take to melt.
Big Bird Watch
In our outdoor learning this week, Turtles took part in The Big Bird Watch. First, they learnt about the different parts of the bird. Then the children worked in pairs to look out for birds and completed the counting chart. They had lots of fun identifying all the different birds.
Turtles have enjoyed lots of fun experiences in Forest School this half term. We have created clay faces using natural materials, finding and measuring worms as part of an experiment and bird watching. Also, we have learnt how to safely light a fire and even enjoyed drinking hot chocolate around the fire.
