Promoting British Values

The Department for Education have reinforced the need “to create and enforce a clear and rigorous expectation on all schools to promote the fundamental British values.”

We agree with the Department for Education’s five-part definition of British values:

Democracy – everyone has a voice and a say in what we do and how we do it

Rule of Law – we have class rules, home school agreements and codes of conduct which we all follow

Tolerance – we accept that everyone has a right to their own beliefs and opinions

Mutual Respect – we admire and acknowledge everyone’s abilities, qualities and achievements

Liberty – we have the freedom to make our own choices
